Say hello to Dani.

Is this your first time meeting her?

Good. This is Dani’s first time meeting her, too.

Daniela Bishop has everything to live for.

A beautiful loft in the south of France. A gorgeous albeit brooding husband who looks at her as if she’s his last meal.

Too bad she doesn’t remember any of it.

A life she never knew with a lover she doesn’t recognize?

It couldn’t get any worse… until it does.

Married to a man with secrets darker than his Greek god-like features, Dani will do anything to piece together the life of her husband, Bishop (no first name), and subsequently her own.

But when memories masquerading as nightmares come back to show her the real truth about her life, her family and her love, Daniela must come to grips with a past that is nothing like it seems… and an unknown life she may end up dying for.

Excerpt

Most people enjoy the sound of rain; they find it calming.

I am not one of those people.

For some reason, the rain has never given me peace.

The sound of water, slow, steady and rhythmic, parades through my bedroom, making it pulsate, and I wake from a deep sleep, reaching my hands across the mattress—searching…

What I’m searching for, I have no idea… but my hands pause when they feel emptiness—nothing.

Just the coolness of the bedspread.

Just the solace of an empty spot.

I feel cold—inexplicably so, and when I turn over to face the window, I see a cloudy sky, scarlet curtains…

And no rain.

Not a single drop from the sky, at least as far as I can tell. The windows seem to be heavily fogged.

But maybe not…

I take a closer look.

A thin film is outstretched over the poorly framed glass, making my vision feel murky.

Grey light filters in through its thin layer, and at this point, I can’t even tell if the sun is shining.

But I can still hear the rain.

Not on the outside, no.

It’s inside somehow, trickling just beyond my bedroom wall.

I sit up straight, bracing my open palms on my bedroom pillows when it occurs to me that the pillows aren’t mine.

In fact, as I take closer look at the bed sheets, I slowly realize… I’ve awakened in a bed that isn’t even mine…

What the flying fuck…

I vault out of the bed, practically diving sideways, as if it were on fire.

A single tumble and my bare feet land on the cold ground near the edge of the bed, simultaneously pacing, taking in the remainder of the room with sluggish eyes and an unsettled mind.

I don’t recognize the silk robe caressing my shoulders. I’ve never before felt the floor rug beneath my feet.

Nothing is familiar. None of it.

Not the room. Not its two rust-colored doors. Definitely not the high ceilings, nor the darkened hardwood floors.

I seem to have gone asleep in one world and awakened in another.

Where the fuck am I, and how in the hell did I get here?

I walk over to the doors, but oddly they won’t open. I walk across the room to stand in front of the thick glass separating me from the world, and I realize that everything around me—the buildings, the people, the marketplace just outside…

I don’t recognize any of it.

And I’m all alone.

How did this happen?

Everything, everyone, appears to be moving in sync, in a motion that speaks of everyday life.

It seems like a normal goddamned day for the rest of the world… but not for me.

I am the oddity.

I press my forehead against the hazy glass, prepared to scream, and just when I start to… the rain that seems to pulsate in the room just stops.

The sound of heavy footsteps follows in its wake, matching the thundering of my now pumping heart—a heart that seems to have leapt between my ears, beating with a panicky pace.

I see the doorknobs turn and through one of the two closed doors, a man enters the room, naked from the waist up, a white towel in one hand and another wrapped near his navel.

And in that instant, my mind goes numb.

He is gorgeous beyond fucking belief.

Gold-green eyes peek beneath a darkly soaked head of hair, and he looks straight at me—his hazel irises expectant, one strong arm outstretched as he dries the wet mane that drips onto his naked shoulders.

Strong broad shoulders.

Shoulders that sit upon a body made of cream-colored stone.

The look in his eyes is intense, and he stares at me as if he is incapable of doing anything else.

I don’t know why… but it thrills me, sets my senses ablaze… and scares me half-to-fucking-death.

Gorgeous or not, this is the guy—the man from last night’s dream… and I have no fucking clue who he is.

Mint By Blue Davis

So often in romance stories you get a heroine that plays the damsel in distress role. She has her own but she plays weak when it comes to the hero. This is not the case in Blue Davis book Mint. Lexi is strong and very stubborn. She is a thief with ambition ( I had to chuckle at that). On her latest heist she is going for the lesser known pirate Black Caesar’s gold. The only thing is that she is in Haiti and being a woman no one will help her. Lexi has to swallow her pride and call upon the one man who makes her heart flutter. She has essentially resigned herself to b.o.b. but that can only get a girl so far.

James is the competition. These two for 10 years have been trying to avoid a chemistry that just won’t go away. Lexi unlike the many other women in his life doesn’t fall all over him and give him whatever he wants. A part of James likes the chase but it’s been way too long. He gets the call and like the true “gentlemen” he is resigns to help Lexi.

When these two get together it’s like a force of nature. This book is full of action and adventure. I wouldn’t say it’s heavy on the romance but has just enough spice to keep the reader interested. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Deeper: Descent: The Deeper Chronicles By allyn lesley

I have been sitting on this little jewel for a minute now. But life happens and I am just catching up on all my reviews. Allyn Lesley is back with her second installment in the Deeper Chronicles. One of the things that a lot of authors could learn from this one is that when you do a series and there is a gap of time between this story and the next give readers a little synopsis or a catch up to refresh us. I know you could just re-read the last story but I so appreciated before reading this story a catch up on all the important elements to prepare me for what’s to come.

Now on to the story this second installment gets a little bit deeper into Noah’s pass. I enjoyed the flashback scenes they were a little dark and added an additional element to the story. i.e. Noah’s father and his troubled past.  In the first story Avi sort of annoyed me because she was so naïve. But I think being with a man like Noah ( they don’t call him the King of N.Y. for nothing) has opened her eyes. He is a man with many secrets and most are to protect her from the man he has become. As a reader you get a little more insight into their relationship. With this book the author does a good job of mixing suspense in with the romance aspect. Avi and Noah have a lot thrown their way especially from outside sources. Once secrets are revealed will their love be strong enough to withstand? Summer is right around the corner and this book is definitely a great beach read. Please judge this book for yourself and not based on this one review.

Deeper Book 2 By allyn lesley

Book 2 in the Deeper Chronicles is now out. I have been reading this book and am in awe. One thing I love is that the author gives readers a recap of what happened in the previous book so that readers wont get confused. Readers be warned this is book 2 in a 3 part series. The good thing is that the author is currently writing book 3. Readers if you are looking for a thriller and a page turner one-click this one.

The King of New York is back. And now, he’s got a Queen on his arm. Just when Noah Adams and Avi Linton are finally settling in to their “happily ever after,” another evil is preparing to make a move. This time, the game just got a little more dangerous and nobody will come out unharmed. Determined to protect her at all costs, Noah puts his life on the line for the only woman who ever mattered to him. But that might not be enough.

When the past begins to threaten their future, Avi and Noah must fight for their present. But can they battle against their enemy without descending deeper into danger?

Meet The Author:

allyn lesley writes real stories about real people.

As a teen, allyn lost herself in the pages of some of Romance's heavyweights, trusting that a happy ever after was just around the corner. In allyn's own writing journey, as in life, she's learned that people don't always experience recovery and restoration after a fall. Her stories speak to the gritty side of life where the right choice isn't always easily identified and happiness not quickly gained.

Target On Our Back By J.M. Darhower

In the words of Drake:

I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing
(Once you read the story you will get the reference)

Naz is back and he is working on being a changed man for Karissa. But you know what they say about leopards and all. A man like Naz can’t stay out for long especially when new enemy’s surface and they strike a little too close for home. One of the things I loved is that we got to know more about Naz’s past and the relationship with his father. When all you know is the business how do you move forward?

Karissa….

I was really hoping that she wouldn’t be as naïve but I guess that’s a part of her charm. I felt she was too trusting. i.e. a random stranger sits with her in a restaurant and she starts revealing things she never even told her best friend. In the words of Naz, “huh?” I understand she is a college student and granted she showed it. I guess I wanted more insight or more on their relationship as a married couple. I thought sadly they were boring they never really went anywhere. Even the love scenes were a little lackluster. And Naz?! Some of his character changes like the Drake ring tone was a little funny.

What I did love is the introduction of a few new characters like Scar and his family. The way that ended hopefully the author will give Melody & Leo a story. The epilogue was great. I just felt that Naz & Karissa relationship was a little dry it didn’t have the same spark in the first book sadly. This is just the opinion of one reviewer. Please judge this book for yourselves.

Excerpt

“You look so sexy lying there with your shirt ripped open and your hair scattered across the pillow.” His voice was deep, his focus intense. Her pulse tripped, skittering along in a new rhythm.

“Don’t move,” he ordered. He removed his gun and utility belt and placed them on the chair. Grabbing the neckline of his fitted gray T-shirt with one hand, he tugged it up and off in one swift movement. Sage knew she was staring. She couldn’t help it; his body was even more perfect than she had imagined. Well-toned, but not bulky, his muscles rippling with his movements. A thin and sexy trail of hair started at his bellybutton and disappeared suggestively into the top of his jeans. She struggled to swallow, her mouth suddenly dry.

Not taking his eyes off her, he undid the top button of his jeans and positioned his body over hers, resting his weight on his arms. His mouth captured hers, the deep kiss reigniting the fire that had barely banked between them.

She ran her hands over the taught contours of his abdomen, marvelling at the way the individual muscles contracted beneath her fingertips. She played with that neat line of hair, and he sucked in a breath, catching her wrists as she tried to tug the denim down. Capturing both hands, he placed them above her head.

“Thought I told you not to move.” His voice was barely recognizable, little more than a sexy rasp. He motioned to the chair where his utility belt lay. “Do I have to use my cuffs, or will you stay still?”

Cuffs? Oh hell, yes! An image of herself, restrained on the bed while Ethan teased and pleasured her needy flesh, flashed into her mind. The tender place between her legs throbbed its approval.

Taz (G-Man Series Book 4) By: Andrea Smith

Synopsis:

Taz:

My life is finally perfect. My dreams have all come true. I'm where I want to be with the bureau; having the career I've been planning since I did my stint in the military. I'm married to the one and only woman I've ever loved; my heart beats for her alone. Together we've made beautiful babies that I adore. I'm thirty-three years old and I'm complete.

Then one day, it all changes. Slate recruits me for a temporary assignment that is underneath the radar for a reason. The bureau hasn't sanctioned it as a priority, but Slate feels it is because of who is involved: Sue Ellen Reynard. Yeah, remember her?

Lindsey:

Our lives were perfect. Taz and I had everything we'd ever hoped for: family, careers and an everlasting devotion to one another. Suddenly nothing is the same. In a single moment, my biggest fear is realized by one phone call from Slate: an 'agent is missing'.

My agent; my Taz . . .

This is just the beginning of our long journey. Will things ever be the same again?

Andrea Smith has hit us with her latest book in the G-Men series! Taz is still alpha-male hotness and working for the F.B.I. He and Lyndsey are together with their two kids and life couldn’t be any better. But life has a way of surprising us and turning things upside down. Can their love withstand the trials, lies and deceit?

Taking a secret mission with his partner and friend Slate things take a turn for the worse. I won’t go into too much detail but needless to say Taz can’t remember his life with Lyndsey and the love they shared. Lyndsey if you have read the other books has been through some very traumatic experiences in her life that could have left her broken but Taz and his love helped her find her way out. But can Lyndsey do the same for him?
I will say that in this book Lyndsey goes through an emotional journey. The love of her life in her eyes has betrayed her. Not only can he not remember her but comes off as a complete stranger. I will say that at times Lyndsey got on my nervous with her back and forth emotions. And her mother Sammie? I really wanted her in this book to get a clue. Seriously how naïve can one be?

This book does takes you through the complexities of relationships everyday will not be a good day but you still fight. Although Taz can’t remember Lyndsey his attraction to her never went away. Although this book had some very emotional parts the kids namely Harper was too cute. And of course being who the author is this book adds an action/mystery element to it. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with my past favorite characters. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

The Vanilla Bet By: Ella Emerson

Synopsis

Trace Weston lives in the beautiful Palm Beaches. A college student who would rather party his life away than accept his father's company. He loses a bet at a college party and has to have a "vanilla" relationship with a girl he has never met.

Vanessa Summers, moved to Florida to attend college for her love of the arts. She also left behind a dark past that haunts her every day. She meets Trace and is instantly taken with his irresistible charm. Will she be able to keep her secrets hidden? Will Trace be able to help her find the answers to what she is searching for? Will they be able to find who and what is trying to keep them apart?

Trace is the popular college playboy. He’s Mr. All American and every girl wants a piece of him but not every girl can have him. Vanessa is the outcast trying to fit in with the socialites but she’s on a budget and wants no part of the superficial life. She’s quite, and very outgoing or is that a part of her allure?

During a poker game a bet is made. Trace has to have a “vanilla” relationship with the unpopular girl. Vanilla being no sex which is more of a punishment because he seems to love the act itself.

A chance meeting…..

Her car dies and Trace gives her a ride. She’s unlike any girl he has ever had. Vanessa isn’t one to jump when a cute guy comes near and Trace enjoys the chase. Can Trace stick to the bet or will this “relationship” turn into something more real?

This isn’t your typical boy meets girl sweet romance the author does provide a little bit of a twist. Vanessa has a secret admirer and like the white knight Trace steps up as her protector. This is a very simple beach read not very complex and enough to keep you distracted. Unfortunately this book was a little to cheesy and young adult for me.

This book is very low heat. Some things didn’t make sense like the notes, the break in and the attack. At what point were the cops going to be called? They confront the culprit and then threaten them with the cops? The person behind these issues has no repercussions for their actions. Huh? Then there is another twist which is a little bit farfetched. The ending was a little cheesy and 90’s B-movies for me. But please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.
