book blurb
A good man falls seven times, But I’m far from a good man. I’ve got my own set of rules, And I never stray from them. I live by a simple set of guidelines and they’re easy to follow. But when Chelsea Robinson walked into my garage, The rules went out the door. Suddenly, I was falling. No, that's not right. It was more like a crash-landing, Because I sure as hell couldn't stop myself. And now, I’m still falling, Uncontrollably. For a woman I shouldn’t even want. But when love steps in, you have no option but to break your own rules.
excerpt
“Knock knock.” “Who’s there?” “Anita,” Chelsea says, looking like the Cheshire Cat. Her low, satin-like voice is doing all kinds of things to my cock. I barely respond with, “Anita who?”Maybe I can cool down with a sip of water. My hand finds one of the bottled waters I’d pulled out from the refrigerator earlier. “Anita dick inside me!” she says, cracking up. Water comes flying from between my lips. Chelsea is beside me, cackling, and I’m choking. Did she just say she needs a dick inside her? I can’t catch my breath. I think about my next move. How much can I say?Fuck it. Might as well be upfront. Once I collect myself and put the bottle down, I catch and hold Chelsea’s gaze. “How about mine?” “What?” she whispers, leaning away from me in a hurry. I move closer to her as I’ve longed to do since we sat down. I have to touch her, and I settle on fingering a few of her long curls, twirling them around. I’m trying to collect myself and not come off as a desperate fool. I take in a few deep breaths to help me regain some of my composure. “I know where I’d like this to end, Chelsea.” Her tongue slips through her lips and moistens them. I move closer to her, breathing her in, and I do believe I could actually come right now. Mutual desire saturates the air as our eyes connect and our bodies lean in at the same time. Unable to decide where to touch again, my hands drop to her thighs, where her skirt is hiked up. Counting helps to calm me down. “I’ve been dying to see what’s under this thing since I saw you at the garage.” My hand slides up from her bare flesh to the edge of her skirt. She hesitates, even though her mouth opens. “Come on; you can tell me,” I prompt. “I’ve wanted to see more of this for the last two weeks.” Her hand travels up my arm then grips it. That’s all I needed to hear. I drag her over my lap so she’s straddling me. Her skirt rides up even more. All of her is exposed: gorgeous thighs and her more-than-handfuls ass cheeks. My hands get greedy, palming the body part—one of many—that has driven me wild since seeing her in those denim cut-offs. My finger trails down the thin strip of material that’s between her ass. “Mmm,” she hums. “Chels, you have to tell me to stop.” I give her an out, just in case she needs one. But she rubs her barely-covered pussy on me, and I take that as her answer. “I don’t want you to stop.”

Deeper Book 2 By allyn lesley

Book 2 in the Deeper Chronicles is now out. I have been reading this book and am in awe. One thing I love is that the author gives readers a recap of what happened in the previous book so that readers wont get confused. Readers be warned this is book 2 in a 3 part series. The good thing is that the author is currently writing book 3. Readers if you are looking for a thriller and a page turner one-click this one.

Just when Noah Adams and Avi Linton are finally settling in to their “happily ever after,” another evil is preparing to make a move. “Who are you?”

“The new hire.” She swiped the dishrag on top of the worn, brown countertop, and didn’t look like she’d be offering up any more information.

If she knew me in my heyday, that’d never been her response. He raked her form up, down, then up again while he tried to decide if she were old enough to be inside a bar. Her hair was the color of a strong glass of cognac. The sides were short and neat, giving the air of a responsible adult. But the front had an ‘I don’t give a shit’ tousled effect that made him wonder again if she was legal. The style made her oval face more interesting than it really was, but when his gaze flitted over her high cheekbones and past her feline-shaped eyes that were the color of molten pewter, he concluded she was attractive, in a strange sort of way. And he liked the way her pointy chin stuck up in the air with defiance, or maybe it was confidence.

“Are you done eye-fucking me or do you need another minute, old man?” the bartender asked. Her question was matter-of-fact, and didn’t hold a lick of reprimand in it.

I like her. “The name’s Tony and I’ll be taking another minute.”

Another Life. Another Place…..

First let me say that this is a novelette it’s a short read that packs a lot in. When I first read the title I automatically thought of the movie. You know the one with Denzel in his glory days? But I digress.

(I will like the book flip-flop between the characters names for the purpose of showing who they were and are and how the two coincide)

Tony Salvai was an enforcer like any made guy he was looking for a way to move up. Although very good at what he does a man can’t knock heads together forever.  There is a shift within the organization he has a way to finally move up in ranks as the underboss but not without completing one last job. They say there is no honor among thieves. Tony’s last job puts him to the test what do you do when the last thing you expected comes back to haunt you?

Red is fiery, feisty and holds no punches. (hence the name) She is noncommittal and not much bothers her. Tony sees her as a sexy challenge. These two share a friendly banter that makes you laugh on one hand and on the other the sexual tension is through the roof. I wanted to say just do it already! I felt like these characters lacked something. I don’t know if it’s because it was a short read and I always want more from short reads. One second they are having a fling, and she disappears and the next moment the tables turn. I did like in the beginning that is was straight action from the start and then between the re-introduction of the two main characters the book slowed down with the day to day conversation. We learn more about her past and how she is connected to Tony but it was almost glossed over and I thought more details about how she came about was needed.

Once you get out they pull you back in….

Tony (Ace) he has done somethings in his life he regrets. No longer willing to be the man he once was Cam escapes but when the bosses come calling he has no choice.

It started with a picture and then all the chips fell into place. Red (Cam) can’t let go of those who have wronged her seeking her revenge she vows to destroy all those who have wronged her. Sometimes plans don’t fall into place and when they don’t you have to come up with a plan B. I enjoyed the fact that these two have a shared past that the other doesn’t know about. But I just didn’t feel the connection between the two. When the secret came out I was confused. One moment it was a sex scene the next other characters are appearing and the book is ending way too soon. More connection was needed for me. Don’t get me wrong the concept was good, editing on point, but the book needed more details. I just felt like I was reading a bit of a preview. I hope Allyn considers turning this book into a full length novel because I know there is more of a story to be told with these great characters. If you are looking for a quick, suspenseful book don’t hesitate to one click Ricochet. Please don’t judge this book based on this one review but for yourselves.

Summer 2011

No more than thirteen years old, a girl in hand-me downs and ill-fitting shoes stomped down the sidewalk. Everywhere her plain brown eyes landed was brokenness.

The row houses that made up her run-down neighborhood were broken.

The few cars parked along the curb belonging to people who used the vehicles as temporary shelters when they couldn’t afford the rent were broken.

And the neighbors … The neighbors were the worst. Their entire beings were broken. Their minds crumbled by choices they were pushed by life to make. Their physical bodies aged before their time by lack of access to quality food choices. Their psyches irreparably damaged by parents who were stuck in a generational cycle they didn’t have the tools to break through.

            Broken.

Everyone who lived in this part of town was broken.

And what did brokenness lead to?

Without a backward glance, she ran from the home where just weeks prior she had found her parents with their mouths agape, forearms corded off, and needles sticking from their veins.

            She ran from her brokenness.

The teen rounded a corner and slowed her pace to a cool, unaffected gait before she approached the men who were huddled together. This was the place, the corner, in Lower Manhattan to get the best drugs, everybody knew that—addict or not.

The teen gripped the crumbled money in her pocket, a gift from the police officer who felt the need to check on what was left of her family from time to time. With a kind smile that reached his violet eyes, he’d told her to buy something just for her. Maybe he thought she’d treat herself to some earrings or her favorite ice cream—little kid stuff—but she had lost her childhood a long, long time ago.

Around her, men and women with sunken, scabbed-over cheeks became the norm. The little girl stuck out like a sore thumb but had no intention of remaining an ‘other’ any longer. The euphoric smile on the faces of her neighbors, her deceased parents, and sibling—she wanted that, even for just a little while.

“You got anything?” she muttered to no one in particular.

“You lost, kid?” the young man in the center of the group asked, snickering to his companions.

“I’m not a kid,” she said with defiance. Her face rose higher in the air and she squared her thin shoulders. Even with a mature body, the freckles that littered the bridge of her nose and spread to the apples of her baby face said otherwise.

To amuse her he said, “Okay. So you’re no kid.” He peered at her closer. “But hand to God, I swear I’ve seen your face before.”

            He probably had.

Before their deaths, images of the girl’s parents’ faces hung in neighborhood stores identifying them as regular shoplifters. They had been arrested so many times they were on a first-name basis with their arresting officers.

With her face blazing in embarrassment, the little girl toed the cracked pavement. “I want your best.” Her words came out low and stammering. She wasn’t a kid, and she planned to prove it. “I want the best you have,” she repeated louder then shoved the formerly crisp bills into his face.

            Greed alighted his eyes.

“Yo, man, she’s only a ki—”

“Shut the fuck up,” he yelled at the sole dissenter. “If it’s green, we take it.” He pocketed the money then looked around.

“Hey,” she shouted, taking a step toward him. If he thought he would stiff her, he had another thing coming.

“Relax, kid,” he said with a canny smile. “I wouldn’t do you dirty when your folks were my biggest customers.” His evil laugh chilled her though the air was balmy. “Take a walk with my friend over there.”

The young thug had at least a hundred pounds on her and towered over her by maybe a foot and half. She tucked her chin into her shirt and kept her gaze low, following the boy’s sneakered feet to a nearby abandoned house.

“Stay here.” He looked up and down the street to ensure they weren’t followed before disappearing behind a door that was falling off its hinges. Before the girl had a chance to worry, he was back and shoving a small opaque rectangle in her hand.

Almost too beautiful, the deep purple petal and green stalk painted on the waxy paper dominated the small expanse. She giggled at the ornate flower.

“Take Over. Best shit on the market,” he said before walking away.

Holding the pretty bag against her heart, she turned and walked in the opposite direction.

Avi has a checkered past she doesn’t trust many with her secrets let alone her heart. Through her best friend well only friend Anna she crosses paths with the King of New York Noah Adams. Not used to running in the same circles Avi dismisses him. I mean really who is he except a gorgeous Adonis who oozes confidences and makes her heart flutter? But Avi is much more than meets the eye she has secrets of her own and has issues with abandonment. Noah is more than confident he can break down those walls Avi has put up brick by brick if that’s what it would take to have her.

Noah doesn’t like the word no. He doesn’t take it from his enemies and he won’t put up with it from his woman. Noah is an alpha male in the true sense of the word the only thing is like many dominant characters he has some darkness that rules his life. He is in urban terms a street pharmacist/drug dealer. It’s the only life he knows and because of this life it has made him the ruthless man he is today. Seemingly from two different worlds Avi and Noah have more in common than meets the eye. I will say that I love the fact that Avi made him work for her affection. Although at times she was a little annoying with the cat and mouse game. I just wanted to tell her, “go to him, let him help you.” This book has some very “deep” elements to it. It’s more than just a romance it’s a mystery. You see there is some drug hitting the street a lethal drug, enemies are working behind the scenes and little Avi is right in the enemies sights. Will Noah and Avi new found love conquer their enemies of will Avi run like she has been known to do?

What I loved about this story is that the characters were multidementional and as readers we get to see the characters grow within their relationship. Each character has a connection and when you find out what it is whoa!!! Stay tuned for book 2. If you are looking for a mystery, mixed with some good old fashioned romance this is the book for you. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Where the fuck is that little she-devil?
Zo pointed toward the dance floor, addressing his employer’s unvoiced question. “Under the ball.”
Noah saw her clear as day and dancing way too close with someone who might soon be leaving the club with a limp. He blew out a breath. She knew better than this, yet she still tested the limits set up for her protection.
A restraining hand on Noah’s arm paused him mid-stride. “Boss?”
Noah’s eyes widened at Zo’s hand. Immediately, the younger man’s hand fell away, and he wisely stepped back. Even in the dim light, Noah saw embarrassment tinge Zo’s face.
“I, um. Excuse me, Mister Adams, but I can’t let you go over there,” Zo said, swallowing the fear his boss evoked.
“Let. Me?” Noah pointed at himself and straightened to his impressive six feet and five inches. “And who’s going to stop me?”
