Fairy tale endings weren’t made for people like me. Happy for now usually ain’t in the cards, either.
The dents on my wall from where my headboard kept knockin’ against the same spot was the first clue that I needed to calm my ass down. At the rate I was racking up notches and plowing through hookups, I wasn’t ever gonna find nothing real. Guess I kinda jinxed myself. I created my circumstances. You can’t get what you want if you keep falling back into the same pattern of bad habits. But then things changed. I stumbled onto somethin’ I never in a million years expected to happen. You gotta understand, I’m never the guy who wins. It was supposed to be just sex, but that shifty, rhyming and scheming bastard, Cupid, pulled a fast one.
I may have changed some stuff to protect a couple of people. But before you go believing the tabloids, make sure you understand that you’re gettin’ the lowdown straight from the source.
I needed to get this off my chest and it’s only fair that you at least get my side of it all. At some point, I might regret telling you any of this, but for now, you need to know.

*Disclaimer* This is a novella. Not a short story, novelette, or novel. This tale features an M/M pairing. If gay erotica/erotic romance is not your cup of tea and you are offended by same-sex relationships or crass language, you should bypass this story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.
Complexity is the fourth installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

When I was first approached about this book I was a little hesitant due to the subject matter. But, let me tell you one thing Harper Miller does is her research! She has a way of telling stories in her kinky chronicle series that make you feel like each of these characters are friends. Carrying on with the theme of her other books Manny and Chris meet through the website and from there things take off. This story is told from Manny's p.o.v. which I enjoyed because he was such a character. One thing i will say that this story was a mix of grittiness, and two people finding out who they are through each other. Readers if you want to read something hot and quick this is the book for you.

Title: Entwined

Genre: Erotica and Interracial/Multicultural Romance

After twenty years of devotion to Uncle Sam, I called it quits. I was wired and looking to get into some trouble. Trouble found me all right, in the form of a hot-bodied fox.

Little did I know how much she’d rock my world.

The names are all fake, details have been fudged, but you’ll get the gist of what went down.

You’re getting one hell of a tale. This is my story.

*Disclaimer* This is a novelette. Not a short story, novella, or novel. This story features an F/F/M ménage à trois scenario. If ménage stories are not your cup of tea and you are easily offended by threesomes and lesbian sex, you should bypass this story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Entwined is the third installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

Her screen name reminded me of that Beastie Boys tune “She’s Crafty.” I liked her direct approach. Cosplay? That was unusual, but hey, I had attended Comic-Con International back in 2013 after my trip to Hawaii—right before I left for Germany—and boy, was it an experience. Tons of hot women in spandex, body paint, and barely-there costumes; Comic-book characters and superheroes are a lot sexier than you’d think.

Since she said she was looking for the boy-next-door type, I’m guessing she meant clean-cut. If so, I was right up her alley. My years in the military led me down a narrow and regimented path. I didn’t drink, much; I certainly didn’t do drugs. I guess compared to her, I might’ve looked boring. Aside from two tattoos—a tiger that took up most of my right shoulder and upper arm, and the Hawaiian word Kākou on my left bicep that I got about a year after I joined the military—there wasn’t anything edgy about me. But I wouldn’t know if I was her type until I took the first step and messaged her.

I’ll admit I hesitated. We seemed like opposites. Based on looks alone, we were so different. Her, a black woman with an unorthodox style, and me a Polynesian-and-white guy with an athletic build. I certainly wasn’t as fashion-forward and daring with my attire as she seemed to be. All I needed was a cool opening line to get her attention. Show her that the clean-cut “unassuming” boy next door can lay pipe just the way she liked it if given a chance.

I knew what I was bringing to the table. She’d never forget me.

I clicked on the box next to her username and composed my message before hitting send. Nothing heavy, just an icebreaker—an icebreaker that was certain to make an impression.

Sgt4U: Knock knock.

About a two minutes passed before she replied.

CraftyBabexXx: Hmm, I’ll play along. Who’s there?
Sgt4U: Orange.
CraftyBabexXx: Orange who?
Sgt4U: Orange you glad someone had the balls to be original on this thing?

There was a long pause. My lame joke was funny in my head. Maybe it didn’t translate well in a text format. Hey, I should have at least gotten points for being unique.

When Harper first starting promoting this book and the subject matter I was a little turned off. (I am little selfish with my man so sharing isn’t an option) But to each their own. I will say don’t let the subject matter detour you from clicking this book there is a twist that will have you rereading the book just for clues you may have missed along the way.

The first page of this book let me be honest did make me cringe a little because of all the “guy” talk but once you get pass that JT is very funny and how he refers to finally releasing his “tension” is pretty funny. One thing that this book does well is using pop culture, and social references in the book which I loved. JT is finally released from the Marine Corp and on the hunt for some fun. Trying to connect with others who enjoy his alternative lifestyle isn’t easy so he joins kinky singles connect (sound familiar?) There he meets Gabrielle. Their instant messages are funny and full of heat. If anyone has ever online dated these messages and the whole process will sound vaguely familiar in some context.

I did enjoy the flashback scenes on how these two met and became a couple. I think there is more to this story. For me the story just ended abruptly and I wanted more from the epilogue. I was a little turned off by the fact that Jake kept referring to woman by what’s between their legs. (I kept thinking is she a cat or kitten?)  It was funny that Jake wanted this little “surprise” but couldn’t last as long as he wanted it to. Harper putting that in the story made it a little more real for me. How many times in these stories you hear men can go all night? I am glad she made these characters a little more real. Although this story is short it packs a might punch. I just felt somewhere the story fell a little short and it was all happening so quickly leading up to this big moment that the two characters were referring to. I know this is a short read but I felt it was lacking in some areas. All in all I am glad I gave this story a chance. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Renewed By: Harper Miller

Tanya has it all a career, husband and the prospects of raising a family. Often times when you don’t confront what’s wrong it all can blow up in your face and you have no choice but to face the truth. Mark like many men started off as her prince charming but down the line communication was lost, needs weren’t met and well life happens. Because of her past trust and relationships are number one for Tanya. She married young and like many young girls was sold a dream well now Tanya wants a refund. Mark her husband the cheater stopped being what she thought he was and seeking fulfillment elsewhere. Curiosity gets the better of her and Tanya logs on to her husband’s computer to find out what he has been up to. Well surprise, surprise he joins a “fetish” website and this is where the journey begins…..

JapKenDoll (once you read the story you will understand the reference) Kenji is everything!!! Ladies I mean he is understanding and can put it down although the toe thing isn’t for me but to each his own. What I don’t get is how your man cheat on you and you log on to this kinkysinglesconnect website and meet someone better? Is Harper Miller selling this website or what? I’m not mad!!! When I read the screen names I thought how cliché but have you seen the cover? Just wow!!!! I will say that Tanya drove me crazy. She wants to move on but her husband infidelities and loneliness shadow her life. And what man wants to continuous chat about you ex? I didn’t know if she really was interested in Kinji or he was just a very sexy distraction. For instance she mentions her lonely existent she has no meaningful relationships and Kinji is a great conversationalist. I wish in the story we got more of his point of view than in the epilogue. With this story I felt like it was more happening off the pages. Tanya’s artificial struggle of I am married I can’t and then in the next sentence she is down for whatever and however. That girl!!!! She was just a mess of sexual frustration, curiosity and something else I can’t put my finger on. I know the author warned readers this was a novelette I just wish it was longer and that more development was given to the relationship because it was hard for me to feel the connection between the two. I wanted Kenji’s p.o.v. more and just more of the story in general. All in all this was a good read I just wanted more development. If you are looking for a quick summer read one click this book right away. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

brwngrltrvler: I’m not in NYC at the moment. I’m overseas, for work.

JapKenDoll: Nice! Your passport is getting a workout. That’s right, you did say it was late where you are. Where’d your travels take you?

brwngrltrvler: Why are you asking? You plan on flying all the way from New York, Superman? I’m in London.
There’s a long pause.

JapKenDoll: Good thing I just got my cape back from the dry cleaners. :) Tanya, I kid you not, I’m in Paris for work. It’s Fashion Week, which is a pretty big deal in my industry. I realize this is going to sound crazy, and you’ll probably say no, but I’d like to meet you. I fly out of De Gaulle with a layover at Heathrow for about an hour tomorrow. We can grab a cup of coffee as friends.
Well, that explains him checking into a hotel. Friends. Hmm, friends. Well, Kenji said he was transparent, but he doesn’t want to be just friends; I am sure of it. We were chatting via a kink-centric website. This is where people went for hookups. I’m sure he wanted something, something I most likely couldn’t give him.

brwngrltrvler: That’s a bad idea, Kenji.

JapKenDoll: Better to meet in London than New York, right? Afterward, you go off in your direction, I go in mine, and we never have to see each other again. Humor me. Have coffee with a man you’ll never see again. :)
I know it’s a bad idea, everything in my being is screaming it’s a bad idea. I’m emotional, I’m raw, I’m . . . stupid.

brwngrltrvler: What time?

Yes, incredibly stupid.
