Thrifty Thursday: Little Pear Editing Services

Remember infomercials that would sale you something you didn’t need or something you did need but didn’t know? They used to always start off with a question. No matter how cheesy it was you always remembered what they were selling.

Infomercials used to start off a little like this….

Are you a writer ? Are you tired of being “cheated” by so called editors? Do you need quality editing services that won’t break your budget? Why not try Little Pear Editing Services?

( Just kidding) But seriously Little Pear Editing Services is this great little find. And when you find a good thing you have to share it. My sista-friend Patrice finally started her own editing services after years of beta-reading and essentially editing for free. She turned her talent and passion into something profitable. Words cannot express how proud I am of her. She calls her editing services Little Pear (named after a member of her family) but believe me there is nothing little or lacking about her work. When I tell you she goes the extra mile and beyond for her authors believe it.

Let me introduce you to the women behind this little jewel:

Patrice is a sarcastic, book-loving nerd with a penchant for cats and internet foolishness. When she's not wasting time on social media, she can be found indulging in her other passion which is making her own handmade bath and body goodies.  She is a native Washingtonian ( few of a dying breed).

What exactly is little Pear?

Little Pear Editing was born from one voracious reader’s desire to help indie authors craft and publish their best effort. I consider myself to be a veteran reader of fiction, specifically, romantic fiction, having read over 500 romance novels in the last five years (That is not an inflated number and very low by some standards). I have always had an interest in the nerdy, technical side of writing-and reading, and that is the spelling, grammar usage, characterization…The more I read, the more I found myself becoming less of a reader for pleasure and more of a critic. Call me the Roger Ebert of romance writing.

Throw Back Wednesday: Elizabrth LaShaun

Before I get into the awesomness that is this author. I need to explain how I stumbled upon her. You know back in the day when Amazon was actually doing their job and offering books of substance this author was listed as a great recommendation .Because of the book covers I admit I was a little skittish. Let’s face it I am used to covers with half naked men. You know the saying, “never judge a book by its cover.” That could not be any more true for Author Elizabeth LaShaun. I am going to put this disclaimer out there I am such a fan girl when it comes to this author. She is very underrated and a jewel. She will say that she doesn’t write IR but her Inconvenient Love Series is just that but mixed with a little grittiness.

When you speak of alpha males her characters Mo and Boss are the mold. I love this book because of the realness you aren’t getting not millionaires and babies but you are getting a story about two men on the come up. Just trying to make it although illegally but when they fall in love the game changes. I will say this is one of the first stories I actually cried over. Ok after all my gushing and trying to sell you ladies on this story.

Let’s me the author:

Elizabeth LaShaun is not only the author of books such as Inconvenient Love and In His Absence, she is also the CEO of Mayott Publishing. This Chicago native has always had a passion for reading as well as writing. Elizabeth specializes in drama with suspense and crime blended to create the perfect book. When she isnt writing, LaShaun enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

She loves hearing from her readers and can be contacted at www.elizabethlashaun.com and also elizabethlashaun@yahoo.com

His Wolf's Desire By Shannon Nydia

Synopsis...

Bradford Dalton and Jayla Stanton are both shifters. Each has their own reason for not wanting to be in a relationship with their own kind. Suddenly finding out that they are mates is a shock to both of them. There’s no way in hell these work enemies will ever be together.

Brad and Jayla are desperate to find a way to coexist with their shifter sides. They just have to contend with the fact they have sexual chemistry that is off the charts. Jayla can turn his body to steel with just a smoldering look. Brad can make Jayla quiver in anticipation with just one touch. You won’t hear either one of them complaining about succumbing to their insatiable need for the other. Sure they can have hot sex which knocks them on their ass, but that doesn’t mean they’ll ever fall for the other. Right?

Publisher's Note: This book was previously released but has been re-edited and revised for this version.

His Wolf’s Desire......

Brad and Jayla have an undeniable attraction to each other but their stubborn nature will not allow them to give in. The author was very clever in giving both sides of the emotions these two felt. Both of their reactions mirrored each other from the appraisal to the direct defiance of attraction. This was an insta-love/lust type of story. From the beginning even though they hated each other one thing they couldn’t deny was their mutual attraction.
Instead of trying to fight off the inevitable they give in and “pretend” to be dating. Jayla doesn’t date wolves and this one is like any other he is her mate. Brad has severe trust issues not having a pack doesn’t make it better. Jayla comes in and turns his world upside down. I did like the chase between the two but after a while it got old and continued throughout the whole story. I mean right until the end they were fighting their relationship at some point I wanted to say get it and let’s get to the relationship part. (the non-conflict). I did have few issues with this stories a few inconsistences.

With all the buildup and angst I wanted more from the ending. The book left a lot of questions for me especially regarding Brad’s family. I didn’t know at times if I was reading about adults or teenagers with the prank calls and the constant denial. One of the lighter parks of the book was the two assistants Monica and Grant. They were so funny and added a little something extra to the story. Hopefully we can get a story on them soon. All in all this was a good light read. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Black Girls Rock

According to Beverly Bond:

BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. is 501(c)3 a  non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media.

Since 2006, BLACK GIRLS ROCK! has been dedicated to the healthy development of young women and girls. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! seeks to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves. Since 2006, we have enjoyed the opportunity to enrich the lives of girls aged 12 to 17 years old through mentorship, arts education, cultural exploration and public service. At BLACK GIRLS ROCK!, young women are offered access to enrichment programs and opportunities that place special emphasis on personal development through the arts and cooperative learning.

By speaking to the next generation in their formative years about issues of self-worth, goals, and aspirations, the organization reinforces the message that young women need not objectify themselves or relinquish their autonomy. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! has boldly taken on the crisis of our female youth of color here in America head on and understands the need for positive self-images and a strong sense of awareness. WE SEE

Tuesday marks the anniversary since this movement started and in honor I wanted to feature a few things that inspire me and make me proud to be a black girl who rocks! I am so moved and touched that I wanted to share some of my many inspirations. In the words of my she-ro Mya Aneglou, “I can't believe my good fortune, and I am just so grateful, to be a Black woman. A Black American woman. I would be so jealous if I were anything else.”

As so famously quoted by Author Toni Morrison, "be your own story." Reading allowed me as young girl in the south to escape and imagine myself in worlds I have yet to visit or even experience. Authors like Toni Morrison, bell hooks and Patrica Hill Collins have created narratives that we control where we as black women thrive. Below are a few links of some dope books by African-American writers.

Now you know I love all things fashion and have to highlight the many men and women who are in the fashion world creating designs and making waves. Check out the link below:

Excerpt

Unedited Excerpt – Subject to change – Copyright 2016 Clarissa Wild

The figure behind the curtain moves his hand and the music starts to play. I close my eyes and take a breath, eliminating my thoughts, transporting myself to another world. In this moment I am no longer Alexis, no longer that girl with all her responsibilities and history. I am simply a woman. A dancer. A seductress.

As the lights dim, my arms start to move to the rhythm of the music. I undress myself slowly, sensually, putting emphasis on every inch of my skin as if it’s precious. I lick my lips and twirl around the chair, showing off my bare skin as my dress falls to the floor and all that’s left is a see-through thong and bra.

My body moves on its own as I dance, almost possessed. Music is the food that feeds my soul and takes the pain away. But when I open my eyes and see him standing there, I can’t help but look. Even through the curtain, which isn’t as thick as I thought it was, I can see his complete silhouette. A big mass of muscles. Bigger than any man I’ve ever laid eyes on. It takes my breath away quite literally.

And all of those muscles are bundled at one spot.

Right in front of his crotch.

I suck in a breath and sway my hips to the music, watching his hands move up and down, front and back. My nipples tighten from the sight as I watch him jerk himself off right in front of me. I shouldn’t be aroused, this isn’t about me, but my body knows what it likes, and it doesn’t care. I wonder if he knows that I can see him … if he even cares.

I blink and turn around the chair again, but at the second turn my eyes can’t help themselves anymore. I gorge myself on his body, watching him speed up, pumping himself. The harder he goes, the faster I move. It’s like we’re both grounded in the moment, joined by movement alone. The music booms through the speakers, but the silence between us is chilling.

Sexy, almost, in a wicked way.

Licking my lips, I take off my bra and jiggle my tits as I twirl around the chair and do my dance. He turns sideways slowly, exposing the size of his length, and oh boy … it just about makes my mouth water, that’s how huge he is.

I love watching him, even though I shouldn’t be. I remember the warning all too well, but what harm could it do when I can tell he’s enjoying it? And the funny thing is, is that I’m actually enjoying it too. It’s not often that I can please a man without touching him … and that he looks that delicious, even when hiding behind a curtain. God, I can only imagine what he might look like up front.

There’s no harm in fantasizing, right? Besides, it’s not like I’ll see him again … Plus, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to get off, and I’ll sure as hell get myself off when I’m done with this job.

Anxious to see where this is going, I speed up the pace and grind on the chair like a class-act, which gets him all pumped up. I watch him intently from behind my lashes, making sure it’s not too obvious. Pants and soft groans are audible underneath the tone of the music, creating goosebumps across my body.

He sounds like a goddamn beast.

As the music comes to an end, and I do my final move, he releases himself, and the silence returns.

I wait, heavily breathing, sweat dripping down my body, my pussy pounding between my legs. Nothing happens.

But it should.

He never said I could stop.
