Deeper: Descent: The Deeper Chronicles By allyn lesley

I have been sitting on this little jewel for a minute now. But life happens and I am just catching up on all my reviews. Allyn Lesley is back with her second installment in the Deeper Chronicles. One of the things that a lot of authors could learn from this one is that when you do a series and there is a gap of time between this story and the next give readers a little synopsis or a catch up to refresh us. I know you could just re-read the last story but I so appreciated before reading this story a catch up on all the important elements to prepare me for what’s to come.

Now on to the story this second installment gets a little bit deeper into Noah’s pass. I enjoyed the flashback scenes they were a little dark and added an additional element to the story. i.e. Noah’s father and his troubled past.  In the first story Avi sort of annoyed me because she was so na├»ve. But I think being with a man like Noah ( they don’t call him the King of N.Y. for nothing) has opened her eyes. He is a man with many secrets and most are to protect her from the man he has become. As a reader you get a little more insight into their relationship. With this book the author does a good job of mixing suspense in with the romance aspect. Avi and Noah have a lot thrown their way especially from outside sources. Once secrets are revealed will their love be strong enough to withstand? Summer is right around the corner and this book is definitely a great beach read. Please judge this book for yourself and not based on this one review.

Until June By Aurora Rose Reynolds

I absolutely love this series. And am so excited that now we are moving along to the women in the family. Watching them all find there, “boom” is like catching up on the latest family gossip. This story obviously starts with June and Evan. The two were previously married and because of past demons found it difficult to stay together.

June is very sassy. She isn’t the average damsel in distress type chick. Although granted in the beginning of this story she finds herself on the wrong side of the law. I won’t reveal too much but let’s just say June sure can pick them. Because of her situation she finds herself right back in the crossfires of her former husband. Evan is the strong silent type. He’s one to never giving much a way but he loves June fiercely and has gone through great lengths to protect her not only from himself but any other danger out there.

With June & Evan I honestly didn’t feel much of a connection between the two characters. I think it’s because they had this relationship previously and as a reader I wanted more of “flashbacks” of their time together. When we meet the two the relationship is already established and they are trying to find their way back to love. As a reader I wanted more insight on how they got together. Granted the author does about 40% in get down to rawness of why Evan left her. At times I felt like nothing was happening i.e. the intruder incident as soon as it happened it was quickly dismissed. One of the highlights for me was the girls all getting together for a night of fun and laughs.

Although I do enjoy this series this story was a bit slow at times. As I was reading I was waiting for something anything to happen it felt as though it was dragging everything was described including her bedding, the cars, bikes, etc. With the other stories I felt like it was more development and build up with the characters. For instance, in this story Evan gets drunk says some things and June apologizes, gets drunk and they are in bed together and working on one day at a time. For me I felt like something was missing or I just wasn’t getting “connection.” I will say that I am very much so looking forward to Ashlyn’s book. This book may have not been my favorite in the series but it doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a great writer and I look forward to reading the other stories in the series. Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

Beyonce Lemonade

I know it has been so much hype surrounding Beyonce's visual debut of her newest album Lemonade. With all the articles, memes, opinion pieces I honestly have nothing to add except seeing this concert in person was life changing! Its one thing to listen and watch the album but seeing it in person added another layer of in your face realness. The spoken word, dances, costumes and the feeling of empowerment can only describe her concert. One of the many things I loved is that she highlights authors I have never heard of before. Lately I have been reading rupi kaur, "milk and honey." This book of poems are phenomenal. If you haven't heard of this author look her up I promise you wont be disappointed. On another note I know its many of haters and naysayers but for me this album Lemonade was everything!

Deeper Book 2 By allyn lesley

Book 2 in the Deeper Chronicles is now out. I have been reading this book and am in awe. One thing I love is that the author gives readers a recap of what happened in the previous book so that readers wont get confused. Readers be warned this is book 2 in a 3 part series. The good thing is that the author is currently writing book 3. Readers if you are looking for a thriller and a page turner one-click this one.

The King of New York is back. And now, he’s got a Queen on his arm. Just when Noah Adams and Avi Linton are finally settling in to their “happily ever after,” another evil is preparing to make a move. This time, the game just got a little more dangerous and nobody will come out unharmed. Determined to protect her at all costs, Noah puts his life on the line for the only woman who ever mattered to him. But that might not be enough.

When the past begins to threaten their future, Avi and Noah must fight for their present. But can they battle against their enemy without descending deeper into danger?

Meet The Author:

allyn lesley writes real stories about real people.

As a teen, allyn lost herself in the pages of some of Romance's heavyweights, trusting that a happy ever after was just around the corner. In allyn's own writing journey, as in life, she's learned that people don't always experience recovery and restoration after a fall. Her stories speak to the gritty side of life where the right choice isn't always easily identified and happiness not quickly gained.

Same Page By G.L. Tomas

I absolutely loved this book by the Twinjas as this sister duo likes to call themselves. It was a mix of urban realness. Naima and Timothy getting together wasn’t without complications. One being he had someone and it was a long distance relationship. What I know about long distance relationships is that communication is key as it is in any relationship but even more essential when you don’t have that day to day communication with the one you love.

One thing I loved about the book that even though Timothy and Naima getting together was wrong due to the fact that he had someone but they were friends first. It wasn’t just lust they had a complicated connection. These authors showed the gritty realness of love, lies, and life. Nothing was sugar coated and at times it was hard to like Naima. This story was fresh and showed narratives that you don’t often see in romance. I loved how both cultures were explored. I will say that I wasn’t a fan of the cheating aspect but I enjoyed how the story unfolded. The ending felt a bit rushed and ended on a cliffhanger. But the good news is the second book is already out and I can’t wait to see the follow-up between these two characters.   Please judge this book for yourselves and not based on this one review.

“Why am I still here?” she whispers as my hand disappears into her panties.

“Because you want me. Because you can’t leave.” I slide my fingers between her slit. Her folds are already wet for me, even before I’ve laid a hand on her. I grin against her skin, finally understanding why I want her so much. She needs it rough … and rough is all I am.

“You used this against me, Lexi …” I whisper in her ear. “Used your pussy as a tool to get information.”

“It wasn’t just that …”

“Show it to me then.”

The nightgown falls down to the floor, exposing her naked body right in front of the open window. But with no one around, neither of us cares. I’m going for the kill.

“Make me believe the lie that’s us,” I say, rubbing her clit.

“It’s not a lie …” she murmurs, her breaths coming out in short gasps.

“You only say that because my hand is around your throat,” I say, dipping my finger into her pussy. She gasps out loud as I go deep and swirl around inside her. “Because I own this pussy.”

“Fuck …” she moans.

I groan and then pull away, releasing her from my grip entirely. A confused Alexis turns around and props herself against the windowsill, her eyes pleading with me as I walk backward. My cock is hard, but my desire to know where we stand is much more urgent. Her legs draw together and she clutches her body as another draft enters through the window, her nipples peaking from the cold.

I can’t help biting my lip as I watch her become befuddled while I sit down on the chair on the opposite end of the room.

“Go on then …” I say, rubbing my bottom lip with my index finger. “Carry on with the little show you had going in my workroom.”

She stares at me for a few seconds before leaning back. Her eyes glance over her shoulder to the opened window. I wonder if she’s thinking what I’m thinking. If she’s hesitating … trying to decide whether to run or stay … if she wants me more than her freedom.

But then her eyes settle on me as I zip down my pants and pull out my cock.

There’s a gleam of desire in her eyes … one that makes me grab a hold of the base and say, “You want this? You can have it … after you show me you really want it.”
