Remember infomercials that would sale you something you didn’t need or something you did need but didn’t know? They used to always start off with a question. No matter how cheesy it was you always remembered what they were selling.

My sista-friend Patrice finally started her own editing services after years of beta-reading and essentially editing for free. She turned her talent and passion into something profitable. Words cannot express how proud I am of her. She calls her editing services Little Pear (named after a member of her family) but believe me there is nothing little or lacking about her work. What exactly is little Pear?
Little Pear Editing was born from one voracious
reader’s desire to help indie authors craft and publish their best effort. I
consider myself to be a veteran reader of fiction, specifically, romantic
fiction, having read over 500 romance novels in the last five years (That is
not an inflated number and very low by some standards). I have always had an
interest in the nerdy, technical side of writing-and reading, and that is the
spelling, grammar usage, characterization…The more I read, the more I found
myself becoming less of a reader for pleasure and more of a critic. Call me the
Roger Ebert of romance writing.

ReplyDeleteSo cute. But with so many people just uploading books to Amazon and direct publishing, I wish they would take the time to upload it directly to an editor first. I know me, I can let go of little things when they are far and few between but some things just pull you out of a read and people seem to think editors just look at things like grammar. They have to understand they look at your story and can point out plot point holes and name changes things that will drive a reader mad!
